Give yourself enough time to study

Don't put it off until the last possible moment. While some students appear to thrive on last-minute cramming, it is widely acknowledged that this is not the greatest method to approach an exam (for the majority of us). Create a study schedule to help you manage your time. Make a list of how many exams you have and when you have to take them. Then plan your research accordingly. You may wish to devote more study time to some examinations than others, so strike a comfortable balance.

Make your study area more organized.

Check that you have adequate room to spread out your textbooks and notes. Do you have enough light? Is your chair relaxing? Are your computer games hidden from view?

Remove all distractions and ensure that you are as comfortable and able to concentrate as feasible. Some people prefer virtually perfect silence, while others prefer background music. To concentrate, some of us need everything to be perfectly clean and ordered, while others thrive in a more messy atmosphere. Consider what works best for you and take the time to perfect it.

Use flowcharts and diagrams to help you.

When reviewing, visual aids can be really beneficial. Challenge yourself to write down what you already know about a topic at the start of the topic, then emphasize where the gaps are. Condense your revision notes into one-page graphics as the exam approaches. Putting your thoughts on paper

Practice on past questions

Practice taking previous versions of tests is one of the most effective techniques to prepare for exams. This will help you get acquainted to the format of the questions and, if you time yourself, will help you ensure you spend the appropriate amount of time on each part.

Explain your answers to others

Exam time does not have to be an annoyance for parents and younger siblings. Take use of them. To them, explain a response to a question. This will assist you in getting things straight in your thoughts and will also show any places where you need to improve.

Make study groups with your buddies.

Organize a study session with your friends. You might have queries for which they have answers, and vice versa. This can be one of the most effective ways to challenge yourself as long as you keep focused on the issue for an agreed amount of time.

Take periodic breaks.

While you may believe that studying for as many hours as possible is the greatest strategy, this can fact be counterproductive. You wouldn't try to run 24 hours a day if you were training for a marathon. Similarly, studies have indicated that taking regular breaks is beneficial to long-term memory retention.

Because everyone is different, choose a study schedule that suits you. If you learn better in the morning, get up early and study before lunch. Alternatively, if you're more productive at night, take a longer break earlier in the day so you're ready to relax later.

Avoid feeling bad for being outside in the sunshine rather than huddled over your textbooks. Vitamin D is necessary for good brain functioning.

Plan your exam day

Make sure you get everything ready well in advance of the exam - don't leave it to the day before to suddenly realize you don't know the way, or what you're supposed to bring. Check all the rules and requirements, and plan your route and journey time. If possible, do a test run of the trip. If not, write down clear directions.

Work out how long it will take to get there - then add on some extra time. You really don't want to arrive having had to run halfway or feeling frazzled from losing your way. You could also make plans to travel to the exam with friends or classmates, as long as you know they're likely to be punctual.

Drink plenty of water

As a final tip, remember that being well hydrated is essential for your brain to work at its best. Make sure you keep drinking plenty of water throughout your revision, and also on the exam day.

Good luck!
