The chiefs and people of Effutu Traditional Area conducted a huge durbar to honor this year's Aboakyer Festival, which lasted a week.
The legendary shooting of a live deer from the holy forest by the two Asafo Companies (Tuafo and Dentsefo) preceded the durbar, and it was handed to Oma Odefe during the durbar for him to walk on three times as custom mandates.
"Together, we create the way to a progressive society," was the theme of the event. Tuafo Asafo Company delivered the first catch of the hunting excursion to the durbar grounds at 0800 hours this year.
The word that the Tuafo had made the first capture broke at exactly 0704 hours, causing great celebration among those gathered at the durbar grounds, some of whom went to welcome the triumphant Asafo Company from its hunting mission.
According to the information acquired, Dentsefo Number Two made a catch but failed to deliver it to the grounds for unclear reasons.
In his statement, Neenyi Ghartey VII, Effutu Oma Odefe declared that the tradition will be continued to honor their ancestors and safeguard their ancient culture for posterity, no matter how difficult the journey into the bush to hunt for a live deer would be.
The topic for this year's festival, according to Neenyi Ghartey, was chosen on purpose because the Effutu Paramountcy believes in the value of each and every person of the community and their unique contributions to the area's overall growth and development.
According to him, Effutuman had made significant progress in the construction of a safe landing facility, and he thanked President Nana Akufo-government Addo's for their efforts. He also expressed the hope that once the facility was operational, fish hygiene would be improved, as well as canoe safety.
He urged the government to build an ultra-modern market for them, claiming that the present market in Winneba Township was inadequate. Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, Central Regional Minister, praised the area's leaders and residents for peacefully enjoying the festival this year, and expressed the hope that they will continue to work together to build growth.
She also expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make the event calm and successful, and expressed hope that it will encourage investors and visitors to visit the community.
She stated that adolescent pregnancy was on the rise in the region and urged the chiefs to assist in combating the problem.
