Elvis Afriyie Ankrah Goes After Church Leaders For Politicizing Issues
The Ninth Eastern Presbytery Synod convened in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, with a call for religious leaders to take an active role in political activities while being cautious.
This is because the Church plays an important part in the development of a person's character.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, made the appeal at the Synod, urging religious leaders to abandon the practice of vocally voicing problems with one political party's administration while remaining silent about factual problems discovered during the administration of another political party.
Before seeking an awakening from God, he advised Christians to reflect on their acts and inactions.
The practice of "politicizing" the Church should be discouraged since it tarnishes the faith's image.
Mr. Afryie Ankrah, speaking on the topic "Revive us anew, Oh Lord, heal us," emphasized the need of Christians around the country praying passionately for God's intervention, after news that the country is in trouble.
Rev. CSP George Akuahmoah Boateng, the Eastern Synod Moderator, stated that the Church is dedicated to assisting the government in strategizing for maximum advantage in sectors such as education, climate change adaptations, and agriculture, among others.
CSP Akuamoah Boateng, commenting on the Synod's subject from the second book of Corinthians, said, "When there is a moral fall and a lack of spiritual concern among God's children, He brings judgment in the shape of droughts, sicknesses, and economic hardships.
"When Christians pray for God's mercy and revival, however, He responds with compassion and answers their petitions."
Even though some predicted Africa's demise while Covid-19 was on the rise, CSP Akuamoah Boateng stated God sustained the continent. "However, when Christians pray for God's mercy and renewal, He responds compassionately and grants their requests."
Despite the fact that some feared Africa's doom while Covid-19 was on the rise, CSP Akuamoah Boateng declared that God kept Africa alive.
