A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso Central constituency has warned the party's leadership, members, and sympathizers to avoid divisive behavior.

Such actions, according to Nafis Quaye, will alienate and cause discontent rather than unify and allure more people to the party.

Reports indicating some NPP MPs and incumbent constituency executives for manipulating the electioneering processes in the recently concluded constituency contest to further their own selfish ends to the detriment of the party's interests drew the ire of the party's leading member in the United States, Massachusetts.

In several constituencies, agitations have been reported over claims that the names of certain people in the polling station register have been removed and replaced by others, preventing the victims from voting – a scheme put in place to remove them because they may not be trusted to be favorable to the "powers that be" in the constituency.

According to a statement released by the party on May 5, 255 constituency conferences were successfully held and new executives were chosen. As a result, around 20 constituencies have yet to deliver for various reasons.

Mr. Quaye mentioned his own constituency, Ayawaso Central, as one of the areas that have yet to have elections due to an injunction imposed by certain unhappy parties.

He decried the party hierarchy's lack of initiative and haste in mediating and resolving the complaints. As a result, the constituency has had to deal with this scenario for the first time.

"History will be our guide. As a result, we must make triumph our motto in 2024 and become its guardians. If we were serious about it, we would never use mafia techniques,' which lead to divides and animosity, which finally manifest themselves in the form of indifference during general elections," he said.

The NPP stalwart counseled party officers to embrace inclusion and recognize that it requires more than their own contributions. Nonetheless, the contributions and sacrifices of the people at the grassroots are required to achieve electoral victory.

"Sometimes, the sacrifices made by foot troops are valuable, given their capabilities, yet these people go unnoticed, and they continue to carry the party on their shoulders."

"People have died working for the party at Ayawaso Central, but we have neglected to recognize them, even if posthumously."
