The National Disaster Management Organization's (NADMO) Communications Director, George Ayisi, has confirmed that Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-claim Manu's that land litigation is hindering the Agenda 111 project in some places is correct.

He stated that land dispute is still ongoing in areas of the country where the government planned to build the project.

He did, however, express optimism that the project will be completed by 2025 when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will leave office.

Mr. Richard Kumadoe, a Fraud and Security Analyst, has stated that it is not true that the government is unable to secure land for the project.  Mr. Agyeman-Manu has stated that the project is being hampered by land disputes in Accra and Kumasi.

He did say, though, that the administration was working hard to overcome these issues so that the project could move forward smoothly.

"It's too early for me to say whether or not we'll complete." But, optimistically, it is what we want to achieve, and we strive to get it.

"Even land is still a problem for us, especially in the larger cities like Accra and Kumasi." Instead of extending across a larger geographical area, we are now modifying the infrastructure design to go higher. So they're designing something.

"Even in the villages, in the districts, certain chiefs are coming, and there are lawsuits in some locations," the Dormaa Central Member of Parliament remarked on Thursday, May 5, while receiving medical supplies from the Italian government.

Mr. Kumadoe, however, claimed on TV3's New Day show on Monday, May 9, that "it is not true that government cannot find lands.

"Have they gone to Asantehene to request lands and not received them?" Have they requested lands from La Mantse?"

In response to his remark, Mr. Ayisi stated that the Health Minister was speaking the truth.  "On the same broadcast, the Health Minister was being open with Ghanaians," he added, adding, "This government and the President are dedicated to finishing Agenda 111 by 2025."

On Tuesday, August 17th, President Akufo-Addo launched the Agenda 111 initiative, which would see 111 hospitals built around the country.

The President stated during the commissioning of the project in Trade, Ashanti Region, that when finished, the project will provide 20,000 jobs for health professionals.

When the project is completed, he said the Ministry of Health will hire additional physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.  He also stated that the project's execution will result in the creation of additional indirect employment.

The president also stated that the Covid-19 outbreak had revealed Ghana's health sector's years of underinvestment.

For that purpose, he stated that his government is increasing investment in the economy's health sector. "I am pleased that the nation's healthcare is receiving the largest-ever investment," he remarked.

We came together this morning to discuss the effects of Covid 19 on every country on the earth. For us in Ghana, the epidemic has not only disturbed our everyday lives but has also highlighted the flaws in our healthcare system as a result of years of underinvestment and neglect.
