Huawei is searching for the best ICT talent in the world to help it achieve its goals of innovation and creating a more intelligent world.

"At Huawei, when we talk about innovation, the first thing we think about is people," said Ken Hu, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, at a recent event. "We aspire to attract world-class talent with world-class challenges, and work together to push the frontiers of science and technology."

He was alluding to the company's prior Top Minds recruitment campaign, which was announced on its website.

He went on to say, "We don't care where you're from, where you graduated, or what you studied."   "We want you to come and join us if you have a vision for the future and feel you can make it a reality." We provide world-class challenges, a robust platform, and all the tools you'll need to venture into the unknown."

ICT Talent in Sub-Saharan Africa

Locally, Huawei is pursuing its global recruiting strategy, focusing on the continent's top ICT talent, skill training and transfer, and the creation of new ICT employment through engagement with diverse stakeholders.

Huawei began its LEAP digital skills development initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa in April, to improve the ICT capabilities of more than 100,000 individuals in the area in three years.  "Through the initiative, we want to create more youth leaders in ICT, who may explore greater opportunities for themselves, their families, communities, and eventually their nations," Huawei Southern Africa President Leo Chen said during the launch of the LEAP program.

Over the last two decades, Huawei has helped more than 80 000 people in the region improve their ICT skills. Huawei is a sought-after employer in the region. In 2021, it received the Top Employer certification for its subsidiaries in nine Sub-Saharan African nations.

Despite the strain, the corporation feels it is better equipped to handle unpredictability. In 2021, Huawei generated USD99.8 billion in sales, with improved cash flows and a lower liabilities ratio.

In the Global 500 top brands ranking, announced in March 2022 by Brand Finance, a well-known British independent consultant, Huawei stays among the top telecom brands.

"Innovation has been ingrained in Huawei's DNA," Ken Hu says. "For almost a decade, our objective has been to reinvest at least 10% of our yearly sales back into R&D." We invested 22 percent last year."

According to the EU's 2021 EU Industrial R&D investment scoreboard, Huawei is the world's second-largest R&D investor.
