Mr Evans Nimako, Director of Elections, has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would hold regional elections on May 27-29, 2022, as planned.

"Nominations will begin next week once the album is complete and the processes are open," he stated.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, he said, "If someone feels offended, the legal committee is ready to set in."

The NPP held elections at the constituency level between April 28 and May 2 to elect officers to govern the party for the next four years.

Mr Nimako, however, regarded the recently concluded constituency elections across the country as a success, despite misunderstandings, pockets of mayhem, and a series of injunctions in some areas.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, he said, "If someone feels offended, the legal committee is ready to set in."

While party officials were accused of claimed preferential treatment, dodging party protocols, and other electoral blunders, and members threatened to boycott the elections if due processes were consistently undermined, the Director of Elections notified the GNA that the vote was free and fair.

"Elections were properly held in 255 of the 275 constituencies."

"The NPP is delighted with the way the constituency delegates meeting was run, which resulted in our officials being chosen." The party is pleased, and we appreciate the contributions of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Electoral Commission, and the media.

"For us, it's a triumph for the NPP since everyone who was eligible participated in the election." "The party was able to elect officers to carry out the plan for 2024," he stated.

All unresolved concerns with the remaining 20 constituencies, according to Mr Nimako, would be addressed in due order.

"People who were displeased mailed in their complaints, which were promptly addressed. However, there are a handful that are still going on.

"It is intended that when the committee submits its findings, additional action will be taken to allow those constituencies to conduct their own conferences to elect their own constituency officials."

Concerns about omitting names from the party's album were raised by a number of supporters in several places.
