What Mason Mount did to the Leeds United spectators as he embraces Liverpool and Manchester United stars

Mason Mount scored the first goal in Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Leeds United.

Reece James appeared to have waited too long to feed Romelu Lukaku four minutes into Chelsea's match against Leeds United. The Belgian paused his run to ensure he had plenty of space before realizing the opportunity had passed him by and continuing deep into Ilan Meslier's box.

James had different plans. Mason Mount had set up his teammate after some brilliant build-up play on the left that included Lukaku, and he quickly switched to receiver. As James laid off the ball, the angle was tight, Mount, on the other hand, was in position to produce some incredible whip on an outstanding strike past Meslier.

After the game, the Cobham duo went to the corner to celebrate, surrounded by Leeds United fans. Mount managed to break free from his teammate for a brief moment and cupped his ears to the opposition's fans, indicating a lingering rivalry from his Derby days. However, it was a message that all doubters should heed.

This season, there has been a lot of talk about Chelsea's superstars, who may or may not be leaving the club this summer, or who have just arrived. Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen have dominated discussions, while N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are nearing the end of their contract. Mount and James' contributions will serve as a reminder to new owners that they should not be forgotten.

Although Lukaku is the Blues' all-time leading scorer, Mount is three places ahead of him and four places ahead of Kai Havertz in the Premier League rankings. The England international scored his 11th league goal of the season against the Whites, and it's rare that they aren't spectacular.

Mount has also provided ten assists, including one to Christian Pulisic, who scored Chelsea's second goal. That propelled the Blues' talisman to 21 Premier League goals and assists this season, joining a small cast that includes Mo Salah, Son Heung-min, and Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane.

Chelsea's recent performances have been erratic, but when Mount has been given freedom, he has been a sure thing. He lit up St Mary's in a comfortable win, but he also contributed to Chelsea's chances against Real Madrid and scored in the FA Cup semi-final. In the match against Leeds, the academy product returned to the wing but was given the freedom to roam and cajole his teammates into position as well.

Leeds fans chanted for their team to'snap him,' but he's more difficult to stop. Who will be at the club at the end of the next transfer window is unknown. Mount, on the other hand, will be a good starting point for any first XI Thomas Tuchel can name.
