Barcelona has confirmed the departure of reserve team midfielder Kays Ruiz-Atil in an official statement.
The club has terminated the contract of the youth prospect, who was once regarded as one of the most promising players to come out of the French youth setup, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Ruiz-Atil had started his youth career at Lyon. He briefly worked at La Masia before joining the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2015.
The youngster established himself as a sought-after prospect during his time in Paris, thanks to impressive performances in the French youth divisions and the UEFA Youth League.
The midfielder even made seven appearances for PSG last season, causing Barcelona to re-sign him on a free transfer in 2021. For many fans, his return to the club was an exciting prospect, with many expecting him to earn a promotion to the first team.
"FC Barcelona has informed French player Kays Ruiz that his services are no longer required," according to a statement on the club's official website.
"As a result, the French midfielder's time as a blaugrana has come to an end. The Club wishes him the best of luck in the future."

Ruiz spent six years as a youth player at Barcelona before joining Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in 2015.
The Frenchman made seven Premier League appearances under now-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

The contract even included a €50 million release clause, which would increase to €100 million once he made his first-team debut.
