Italy and Juventus center-back Giorgio Chiellini has confirmed his exit from the club after yesterday’s defeat in the Coppa Italia final. The Juventus captain made his intentions clear after his side lost 2-4 to Inter Milan in the cup final. Speaking to Sport Mediaset after the game, Chiellini said "I give way to the youngsters, as next year I will not be here. On Monday I will say goodbye to my stadium, and Fiorentina will be my last match. I say goodbye with joy to this team, of which I will be the biggest fan because Juve will always stay with me."
The 37 year old is now Juventus’ third all-time most capped player after Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon. He leaves as a winner of nine league titles and five Italian cups since joining the Bianconeri in 2004 from Livorno. It doesn’t also seem like the veteran defender would hang his boots anytime soon as sources including the ESPN and Daily Mail have predicted a potential MLS switch for the Italian.
