Gabriel Jesus 'likes Arsenal proposal,' but the Gunners will face competition from six other clubs for the Manchester City forward
Marcelo Pettinati, Gabriel Jesus' agent, has confirmed that he likes the "project" on offer at Arsenal, but also claims that the Gunners will face competition from six other clubs for the Manchester City striker.
Jesus joined City in 2017 for £27 million ($33 million) from Brazilian club Palmeiras, and he has since won nine domestic trophies at the Etihad Stadium, including three Premier League titles.
However, the talented young frontman hasn't always been a regular starter under Pep Guardiola, and GOAL reports that he'd be open to a summer transfer to secure a more important role.
What has Jesus' representative said about Arsenal?
Mikel Arteta's representatives began talks with Arsenal last month in order to bolster his attacking options at Emirates Stadium for the 2022-23 season.
Pettinati claims Jesus is interested in a fresh start with the Gunners, but he also admits that he is being courted by a number of other clubs.
"We had discussions with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus, we like the project - it's a possibility we're talking about," Jesus' agent told Fabrizio Romano.
"There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel - he's focused on Man City's final games, so we'll see."
Why is Gabriel Jesus so sought after?
Jesus is attracting a lot of attention because of his impressive scoring record at City, where he scored 95 goals in his first 234 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He also has one year left on his Manchester United contract, so this could be the club's last chance to sign the Brazilian international.
City's £51 million ($63 million) signing of Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland has cast further doubt on Jesus' future, and at the age of 25, he may be ready to take on a new challenge elsewhere in order to reach his full potential.
