Breaking: Liverpool's star has been ruled out of the FA Cup final, giving Chelsea a tremendous advantage
Fabinho, one of Liverpool's key players, has been ruled out of Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea due to injury.
Liverpool will be without key midfielder Fabinho for the FA Cup final against Chelsea this weekend. According to a report in The Times on Wednesday, the Brazil international is now in a race to be fit for the UEFA Champions League final later this month, which means he will almost certainly miss the Reds' next three games.
Fabinho hobbled off in the first half of Liverpool's 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night. Jurgen Klopp was visibly concerned on the touchline when his midfielder pulled up, and scans after the game revealed he had suffered a hamstring strain.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given Chelsea a boost in the FA Cup final by confirming that midfielder Fabinho will be unavailable for Saturday's game at Wembley.
The Brazilian limped off during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday night after suffering a muscle injury in the first half of the clash at Villa Park.
"I don't know [how bad it is]. He felt the muscle, not too much," Klopp said after the win, which kept his side's Premier League title hopes alive. He is quite positive, but I'm not sure what I can make of that, to be honest. We will see."
Fabinho has since had an injury scan, and while it is unlikely to keep him out for the rest of the season, Klopp has accepted that the 28-year-old will miss Saturday's cup final at Wembley.
"There's a good chance he'll be back whenever – not for the weekend, but whenever," he told Liverpool's official website.
As things currently stand, Fabinho will be Liverpool's lone absentee this weekend. Chelsea's story is quite different. Ben Chilwell (knee) will be out, while Callum Hudson-Odoi has been out with an achilles injury for several weeks and is unlikely to play.
