An inquiry into an alleged rape case involving two military officers has commenced in the Northern Region.

The woman and her spouse were traveling through the Northern Command zone when their motorcycle experienced a fault, according to JoyNews sources.

They further claimed that the two military officers approached the couple and attacked them physically. On a motorcycle, one of the troops is said to have pulled the woman into the jungle and forced sex with her.

The suspect who raped the lady was identified as Sakitey, according to the source, who also stated that while pulling the victim away, another coworker revealed his name and inquired as to where he was sending the lady.

Bernard, the Northern Regional Crime Officer Superintendent, confirmed the occurrence. According to Bernard Baba Ananga, a complaint has been filed, and the police have written to the Ghana Armed Forces' Northern Command requesting the release of two military officials to help with the investigation.

He, on the other hand, refused to elaborate.

In other news, the suspect in the Safam rape case in the Northern Region's Savelugu Municipality has been charged with murder and detained in police custody to assist with the investigation.

Abdul Fatawu Yussif, 35, went into hiding following the death of the victim he raped, but was apprehended and processed for court in April.

He's currently supporting cops with their investigations. On Sunday, May 30, 2021, an 18-year-old woman was murdered. Abdul Fatawu Yussif reportedly raped her in Safam, an agricultural village near Diare in the Northern Region's Savelugu Municipality.

According to him, the lady was admitted to the Savelugu Hospital before being transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where she died.

The 18-year-old had gone to the Safam village for a naming ceremony and was waiting for a car when Abdul Fatawu convinced her to go with him on his bike to a separate route where he raped the victim and left her in a pool of blood by the wayside.

The lady was discovered and sent to Savelugu Hospital, but she died later at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
