Three Granted Bail For Unlawful Possession Of Police Accouterments, Abetment

 

An Accra Circuit Court has allowed bail to three people in the amount of GHS80,000.00 each with three guarantees for unlawful ownership of Police accessories and abetment of wrongdoing.

 

The Court requested that one of the guarantees ought to be a local official.

 

John Essel Baah, mature 49, and Enock Kwame Bosempem, mature 45, were additionally accused of "dishonestly claiming to be a public official," an offense they argued was not blameworthy.

 

Warrant Officer 1 (Rtd) Ebenezer Painstil, matured 53, was likewise accused of abetment of wrongdoing, an offense he argued not blameworthy.

 

The Court managed by Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah concluded the case on June 14, 2022.

 

Indicting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fuseini Yakubu let the Court know that on April 27, 2022, the Police functional division got a report that a few people wearing police-like way had shown up at Okaikoi South, where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) chiefs' political race was continuous.

The Prosecution said the charged people were captured and a hunt led revealed two Police binds, two AK47 folding blades, two secrets, and three Gotas sets.

 

It said primer examinations had it that, the denounced people wearing the said clothing showed up at the Election Center and acquainted themselves with the appointive officials and electorates as National Security Officers.

 

The Prosecution said further examinations uncovered that the charged people were not Police or National Security Officers, as they asserted.

 

During cross-examination, Mr. Baah and Mr. Bosempem demonstrated that WO1 Painstil furnished them with the accessories and sent them to hold themselves as officials at the Election Center while they were not officials, he said.
