Member of Parliament for Tema East Economic Empowerment of Women in the Region
Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Member of Parliament for Tema East Province presented a strategy to empower women, youth, and the vulnerable in the region with skills to provide for the needs of their families.
Mr. Odamtten made the remarks in an interview with Ghana News Agency next to an event organized to honor mothers in the region and to support older and vulnerable women.
She said to achieve this, her office collects information on women, especially mothers who need help to empower them economically.
He said he was contacting Dangme Rural Bank to support women, especially traders, with loans to grow their businesses.
He noted that 50 women were currently running a loan scheme, adding that plans were in place to ensure that the money was used for their purposes so that they could repay it. and benefit.
The MP said the women's project included "Ashai Aged Care", an initiative to support and care for the elderly especially women in the region.
He noted that another project aimed at women's health was related to working with the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) Mother and Child Clinic to provide the necessary health care for breastfeeding mothers, and the well-being of their children, for future generations. regional and national dependence on the health of the mother.
He said another initiative he had launched was the Back-to-School program which aimed to provide high school students in the district with the support that included degrees, chop boxes, and school needs.
Mr. Odamtten explained that although the return to school system did not directly benefit women, it indirectly acted as it took into account some of the responsibilities they would have to carry as their children went to high school.
