Former President John Mahama and his supporters have been confronted by a group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Volta Region who claim to be supporting former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's flagbearership bid.
The organization accuses "the Mahama gang" of employing "communist inferior techniques" against Dr. Duffuor and his supporters in a statement posted on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
"We're witnessing subtle attacks in the form of people trying to persuade party members to disregard Dr. Duffuor even though campaigning season hasn't started yet." "We want the Mahama gang to know that we know what's going on; there's a hidden effort to smear Dr. Duffuor in the minds of party members out of concern that he'll win the presidential primary and lead the NDC in the 2024 elections," the group claimed in a statement.
Mr. E. Adjorlolo and Mr. Kofi Mensah, both of the party's Ketu South constituency chapter, have signed the statement.
The announcement comes in the aftermath of allegations that certain people inside the NDC are surreptitiously waging a campaign to undermine Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, despite the fact that he is a member of the party.
The party's leadership has yet to declare a campaign season. The anti-Duffuor campaign, according to the findings, focuses on making Dr. Duffuor seem bad by making various accusations, including that Duffuor is an NPP mole within the NDC.
"We've heard the myth that Duffuor was an NPP mole within the NDC and that he's just grown comfy with the NDC now because Akufo-bank Addo's has been purposefully collapsed so that Duffuor's pursuit for the 2024 flagbearership is in the hopes of regaining his bank."

The wind of change is blowing everywhere, and while the EIU projection predicts that the NDC will lose in 2024, the party has a higher chance of winning by nominating anybody other than Mr. John Mahama. Dr. Kwabena Duffuor is the guy we need, and no amount of private badmouthing of Dr. Duffuor will change that."
