Leicester City whipped relegated Watford 5-1
Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes scored two goals each as Leicester City whipped relegated Watford 5-1 at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Sunday, leaving the hosts without a home Premier League win this year.
Watford finished their run of 11 straight home losses when they held Everton to a goalless draw on Wednesday however they couldn't go above and beyond as Leicester supported their possibilities of a main 10 completion in style.
The outcome addressed a poor farewell for active supervisor Roy Hodgson, who will assume responsibility for his last game when Watford travel to Chelsea one weekend from now.
"I figure no director on the planet might have saved us, Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster said. "It's been a frustrating season, it's been somewhat of a debacle beginning to end.
"Individuals most certainly can't be nailing fault to Roy Hodgson. He stirred us a piece... made us fill in as a unit. The certainty has been so low. It doesn't help while you're getting battered and rebuffed for botches."
Watford drove following six minutes through a half-volley from Joao Pedro after the away side neglected to clear a corner, yet James Maddison and Vardy scored with hardly a pause in between to turn the game in support of Leicester.
Midfielder Youri Tielemans profited by a guarded misunderstanding from Watford and squared the ball to Maddison, who guided it into a vacant net to carry Leicester level with his sixteenth goal of the time across all rivalries.
Maddison played a long ball forward and Foster dashed off his line to punch it clear however Vardy headed it home to put Leicester ahead.
Barnes scored 30 seconds after the restart, volleying past Foster from substitute Marc Albrighton's cross, and set up Vardy's second with 20 minutes staying for the striker to score his fourteenth association goal of the mission.
With five minutes remaining, Leicester countered through Maddison and Barnes associated with the midfielder's pass to coolly beat Foster as Watford drooped to their seventh loss in eight association games.
"The going after piece of our game was extraordinary," Leicester City administrator Brendan Rodgers said. "We had that power... James Maddison's quality was hair-raising - his passing, his conveyance, work rate was generally excellent.
"It was one more sad diversion from the corner which saw us surrender... We'll follow through with something (about that) come the late spring.
"We've attempted various designs all through the season... Too often, we're not getting first contact. That's what we'll redress."
