Report: Chelsea have reached an agreement with Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic
According to Italian media, Chelsea have agreed to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 33-year-contract old's expires at the end of the season, and he is expected to leave the title contenders.
Perisic has agreed to terms with Chelsea, according to Sport Mediaset via Sempte Inter.
The Italian club has so far only offered him a contract with a salary of €4.5 million for the next two years, despite his demand for a salary of €6 million.
Perisic has had a successful career, winning league titles in Germany and Italy as well as the Champions League trophy during a loan spell at Bayern Munich in 2019-20.
He has shown no signs of slowing down this season, despite being 33 years old.
He has been a consistent starter for Simone Inzaghi's team, contributing seven goals and six assists in 33 Serie A appearances to keep his team in title contention.
It is unclear whether Chelsea have met this, but it appears that they have offered more than Inter to entice him to move.
"There is a rumour in the last few hours: Perisic has a practically already formalised agreement with Chelsea," said Italian journalist Sandro Sabatini.
Perisic has already reached an agreement with Chelsea: the medical examinations and final formalities to ratify the agreement are still pending, but if the Croatian does not go to Chelsea, the agreement will be null and
We could be in for a spectacular twist."
Chelsea were linked with a January move for the Croatian after Ben Chilwell's injury disrupted their season, but the move never materialized.
Perisic joined Inter from Wolfsburg in 2015 and spent the 19/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich, with his next stop appearing to be in London.
He also scored the game's final two goals as Inter defeated Juventus 4-2 after extra time in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.
The arrival of Perisic could pave the way for fellow winger Marcos Alonso to leave Stamford Bridge during the next transfer window.
The Spanish defender is said to want to return to his home country and play for Barcelona.
This would put Perisic in direct competition with Ben Chilwell for a place in Thomas Tuchel's starting XI next season.
Chilwell has been out with a serious knee injury since November, but is expected to return when the 2022-23 season begins.
