The case of a terminated KATH accountant against hospital management is dismissed by the court.

KATH employee takes CEO to CHRAJ for COVID-19 fund mismanagement.

KATH fires employees who drag the CEO to CHRAJ.

I'll keep fighting until I achieve justice. KATH employees who have been fired have made promises.

Awuni Akyireba, an accounts officer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), was dismissed after accusing the facility's Chief Executive Officer of misappropriating COVID-19 funds. He lost a court case challenging his dismissal.

Awuni Akyireba petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in November of last year, alleging that the hospital's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso, misappropriated COVID-19 funding.

The hospital's money were used to "buy two beautiful Toyota Camrys of 2020 model for the joy and comfort of the CEO, Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso, and the Medical Director, Prof. Baafuor Kofi Opoku," he stated.

He further claimed that the hospital's medical director gave his official vehicle to his wife, who was involved in an accident.

Following this, the hospital's management fired him, claiming that he had broken some of the hospital's disciplinary guidelines.

He, on the other hand, challenged his dismissal by launching a lawsuit against the hospital and asking the court to restore him.

However, the court dismissed his case.

He expressed disappointment to journalists after his dismissal. He noted, however, that the situation has not been resolved and that he will continue to battle until justice is served.

"I'm quite dissatisfied. I believe this is the greatest dishonor in the history of the hospital, and even in the history of our judicial system, that an administrative body could ignore procedural standards and get its way. It's quite disappointing. The legal battle is a plan. So, when the incident occurred, I addressed it with lawyers, who advised me on how to proceed. I was informed from the start that it would be difficult to succeed, but that we may pursue wrongful dismissal. If you've also heard the Other than the certiorari, he [the court] remarked that we might have filed a writ and had a full-fledged trial for wrongful dismissal "Citinewroom.com cited him as saying.

He continued, "So we're reconsidering our alternatives. It has not died out. This is still going on. Let me send a message to the hospital and even the court that I'm serious about my issues, that I know justice hasn't been served in this case, and that I'll fight until it is done.
