Jurrien Timber was a key member of Ten Hag's Ajax defense during the 2021-22 season, and the new Old Trafford boss is eager to bring him to the Premier League, with talks underway.Manchester United is moving through with a £35 million bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.
Erik ten Hag, the new United manager, wants to bring Timber with him, and the two teams are reportedly in negotiations over a deal for the central defender. Timber, 20, played a key role in ten Hag's third Dutch triumph with Ajax, and the Old Trafford-bound manager is eager to continue their collaboration in Manchester.
This summer, United is seeking for a striker, a creative and holding midfielder, and a centre-back, as well as both full-back positions if the proper players become available.Timber, who shone at Ajax under ten Hag, making 43 appearances in their title-winning season, might be the Dutchman's first signing at United.
"I think all the big clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights," ten Hag stated when asked about transferring any of Ajax's players to United, including Timber and striker Antony. But I believe it is true of many Ajax players right now.
"If Antony leaves, it will be a loss for Ajax because there is no one in the present squad who can fill his shoes."
Ten Hag has already started working as United's manager in anticipation for Ralf Rangnick's departure.Ajax great Marco van Basten has curiously instructed Ten Hag to target Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech worked with Ten Hag in Amsterdam before moving to the Premier League, and while the Moroccan international has won trophies at Chelsea, he has failed to secure a starting spot. This season, he has only made 12 league starts.
However, speaking on Dutch television on Monday night on Ziggo Sport's show 'Rondo,' which had Ten Hag as a guest, Van Basten indicated that if Ziyech moved to Old Trafford, he may prosper again under the next United boss."What comes to me right now is that I believe Ziyech, who already plays in England, could be an excellent footballer for Erik at Manchester United," Van Basten stated.
Ten Hag declined to comment on Van Basten's idea, claiming that he is already used to dealing with transfer rumors.
"Of course, this was the case at Ajax," Ten Hag added. "You take that in and then you have to keep working well with the dressing room and other club members." You must conduct thorough research and make sound decisions."
