Laporta states Mbappe's claimed Real Madrid requirements
Joan Laporta has reviewed the current situation at Barcelona and stated unequivocally that if one or two of the economic plans are implemented before June 30, the club will be in a healthy financial state.
He also discussed the alleged salary demanded by Kylian Mbappe from Real Madrid, as well as the futures of players such as Ousmane Dembele and Gavi.
"If we can activate one or two economic plans before June 30, we will have cleaned up a large portion of the club's debt," he told Catalunya Radio.
"It will never happen again, going into such a dimension of madness." It must never happen again, and we are working to ensure that the club.
"We couldn't pay Mbappe's asking price of 50 million euros net. Then they don't win the Champions League... we're not going to talk about 30 goals."
Laporta will be concerned about Ousmane Dembele, who has yet to sign a new contract with the club.
"He wants to stay," Laporta said, "but he is very tempted by other options that offer conditions that they may consider better than ours."
"The offer has been on the table for a while; they will respond once the season is over. We would have preferred to have received an answer sooner, but we cannot force it. Everyone has a good personal relationship with us." Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang], with whom they are very good friends, has arrived. He has representatives in charge of the situation, but I hope he remains."
Laporta remained tight-lipped about Frenkie de Jong's future.
"There are Barcelona players on the market who are highly sought after, and we will do what is best for Barcelona," he said.
"If we can get the club's finances in order, we'll have fair play, cash... "
I'm not sure if [player] sales will occur."
Laporta was grateful for Dani Alves, who has been on a low salary this season, and hoped the Brazilian could stay.
"He accomplished the goals. The athletic directors will inform us of their decision. "I'd like him to stay," he said of Alves.
"He was very adaptable so as not to jeopardize the fair play issue.
He's excited to play in the World Cup, and if he maintains that attitude, it won't jeopardize the operating account. Let's wait and see."
Laporta is hoping that Gavi will sign a new contract.
"He has an offer, and I hope they accept it," he said.
