In the next weeks, Arsenal will make their first offer for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

According to rumours, Manchester City centre-forward Gabriel Jesus and his representatives have decided not to rule out a move to Arsenal if the team fails to achieve Champions League participation. Following the 2-0 setback to Newcastle on Monday night, there is now anxiety in north London that the Gunners may be unable to attract their top targets if they fail to finish in the top four, as expected.

Prior to their 3-0 defeat to their rivals a week ago, Arsenal had been on pace to finish fourth ahead of Tottenham.

Antonio Conte's team followed up their north London derby success with a 1-0 win over Burnley, which completely shifted the balance and gave Spurs the upper hand.

Arsenal now needs a miracle to go back into the Champions League. They need to beat Everton on Sunday and hope that bottom-placed Norwich can steal a point from Spurs.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for Arsenal, as The Sun reports that Jesus and his club are still considering a move to the Emirates, even though Arsenal will be playing Europa League football next season.

Pep Guardiola will not stand in the way of Gabriel Jesus requesting permission to leave Manchester City this summer, as is expected.

The Brazil international has opted to seek a new challenge after becoming an increasingly important part of City's Premier League championship defence this season.

City have already recruited Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund after missing out on Harry Kane last summer, while Julian Alvarez, who was signed from River Plate in January, will be given a chance to impress in pre-season.

With that in mind, Jesus is reportedly unwilling to play second fiddle to any newcomers and will announce his intention to leave City following Sunday's Premier League finals, according to ESPN.

Arsenal have emerged as strong contenders to recruit the 25-year-old, whose agent acknowledged that preliminary discussions have already taken place.

'We have negotiations with Arsenal regarding Gabriel Jesus, and certainly, we like the proposal,' stated Marcelo Pettinati.

'We're talking about it because it's a serious possibility.'

'There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel Jesus; he's currently focused on Manchester City's final games, and then we'll see what happens.'
