According to rumours, Manchester United player Jesse Lingard is in negotiations with four teams about leaving Old Trafford. PSG is one among the clubs after the England international, while Newcastle is still intrigued despite missing out on a January deal. However, as his departure approaches, any transfer to the capital is not inevitable.
After a difficult season under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, Lingard has no intention of staying at United. And, according to the Daily Mail, he's in talks with four clubs, including PSG and Newcastle, but not West Ham. Lingard temporarily left Manchester United in January 2021 to play for David Moyes at the London Stadium.
And he was a big hit with the Hammers, scoring nine goals and assisting four times in 16 Premier League appearances. A year ago, West Ham wanted to sign Lingard on a permanent basis. They were unable to sign the 29-year-old, despite Solskjaer's assurances that he will have opportunities at Old Trafford.
Lingard is instead in talks with Newcastle about a possible summer transfer. After a January purchasing binge spared them from relegation, Eddie Howe's side will be in the Premier League next season. Newcastle had intended to add Lingard to their roster in the New Year, but United blocked the transfer once again. Despite this, they are still interested in acquiring the services of the United star once his contract expires. Lingard is also in talks with PSG, in addition to Newcastle. The Ligue 1 powers have taken advantage of the free agent market in recent years, signing Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG is also interested in signing Lingard and bringing him to Parc des Princes at the end of the season.
Other clubs interested in signing the United academy graduate include AC Milan and Juventus. Milan is likely to have new owners and has already qualified for the Champions League for next season. Meanwhile, Juventus is looking for reinforcements in order to win the Scudetto next season under Massimiliano Allegri. And it's unclear where Lingard will go. He was recently dissatisfied with Rangnick after the German kept him on the bench for the whole 3-0 victory over Brentford.
That prompted his brother, Louie Scott, to lash out at Rangnick for his snub on Instagram.
The German, on the other hand, went on to justify himself, saying: "To begin with, I believe he has played significantly more games in the previous couple of weeks than he did before I arrived.
"Number two: on the day of the Chelsea game, he contacted me in the hotel and requested that I release him from the game as well as the training session the following day and two days after the Chelsea game due to personal family obligations. And I gave him permission to do so.
"And that's why, with only three subs - in other competitions, you get five - I had to choose between bringing on Edinson Cavani or Jesse Lingard, or even the young Alejandro Garnacho, who I would have loved to have brought on and given a chance after being 3-0 up with 15 minutes to play."
"However, I made the choice to bring on Edinson for the reasons I just stated.
"If I hadn't brought someone on, someone else might have said it was impolite not to bring on Edinson Cavani, or 'why didn't the manager bring on the young Alejandro Garnacho?'
"With only three subs and two already used, you must make a decision, which will not be to everyone's favour, but it is part of the game."
"To be honest, I don't read much; I haven't had the opportunity to read in the previous six months; I'm not on Instagram, as you know; I'm not on Facebook; I'm not involved in those places.
"My goal has always been to improve the team with my coaching staff."
"With social media these days, there is always someone publishing something, and it's vital for us at the club not to pay attention to that."
"Unless the player is involved,
