Liverpool issued transfer 'impression' to Christopher Nkunku after scouts were 'thrilled' with the Brazilian player
Liverpool have received what has been described as a "transfer hint" from Cristopher Nkunku, while Reds scouts allegedly like the look of a Brazilian.
Ralph Hasenhüttl commendation
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl was impressed by Liverpool's depth, with Jürgen Klopp making nine changes to his starting XI at St Mary's on Tuesday night, three days after the FA Cup final.
"I think we played against a good team that made a lot of changes but still has a lot of quality up front," he said after the game. "You could tell. To be honest, I would have done the same (made numerous changes).
"Jürgen is confident in these players. They are of high quality. It is still a high-quality group. They've accompanied this team to an FA Cup final. They play this team frequently, so we know they're good. " We took a lot of chances with the ball today, and it looked a little scary at times. We tried a different defense against the ball — deeper because we had more time struggling in the last weeks with conceding easy goals and were too open."
Even with a second-string team, Liverpool dominated and deservedly won the match.
RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku was recently named the Bundesliga's best player for 2021/22, and the France international has had a fantastic season.
With 34 goals and 20 assists, the 24-year-old, who can play all across the frontline, has really exploded and shown the type of form that has allegedly piqued the interest of Europe's top sides, including the Reds.
According to L'Equipe (via Sport Witness), when asked which team he plays for on the video game FIFA, Nkunku simply replied, "Liverpool."
The French publication sees this as a possible transfer clue as to where Nkunku could end up next, though Leipzig insists he will not be leaving this summer.
With the Reds having just signed Luis Daz and the current front three all having contracts until 2023, the timing of his departure from Germany may actually suit them.
According to recent reports in Germany, signing Nkunku will cost at least €75 million (£63 million).
Brazilian impresses Liverpool scouts
According to Brazilian outlet NetFlu, Liverpool is interested in Fluminese midfielder André Trindade. The Reds are said to be 'analyzing' him ahead of a summer move, with scouts allegedly being 'impressed.'
Liverpool already have Fábio Carvalho in their midfield ranks, and Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones have both had more limited minutes this season than they would have liked, Liverpool has a plethora of young options in the center of the field.
However, with James Milner nearing the end of his career and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to leave, having another one could be appealing.
