Messi or Ronaldo? De Bruyne selects his ideal teammate
The Manchester City midfielder claims he would rather play with CR7 than Messi.
Kevin De Bruyne prefers Cristiano Ronaldo as a teammate over Lionel Messi because the Portuguese superstar is "more of a typical striker."
Choosing the greatest player of all time, also known as 'The GOAT,' or any top performer in a sport can be difficult. Many players, managers, and legends have given their opinions on the Ronaldo vs. Messi debate.
But, if he had to choose, De Bruyne would go with CR7 because he and Messi play similar roles on the field.
"I would probably say Ronaldo, because he is more of a typical striker," the Manchester City star said when asked who he would team up with.
"Messi is still a playmaker." So, since I'm a playmaker, you can give me a striker."
Ronaldo and De Bruyne intend to return to Premier League action this Sunday for the final round of fixtures.
Ronaldo is preparing for Manchester United's trip to Crystal Palace, while De Bruyne hopes to help Manchester City win a fourth league title by defeating Aston Villa.
Messi could also play in Paris Saint-final Germain's Ligue 1 game of the season against Metz on Saturday.
The Belgium international was asked if he would prefer to play alongside Messi or Ronaldo.
"I would probably say Ronaldo because he's more of a typical striker," he replied.
Messi is still primarily a playmaker. You can give me a striker because I am a playmaker!"
De Bruyne has had an excellent season with Manchester City, who will look to retain their Premier League title against Aston Villa on Sunday.
In 44 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side across all competitions, the 30-year-old has scored 19 goals and registered 13 assists.
