Tottenham Hotspur forward Chioma Ubogagu has been given a 9month suspension
Tottenham Hotspur forward Chioma Ubogagu has been given a nine-month suspension from the game for an enemy of doping infringement, the Women's Super League club said on Thursday.
Prior to joining Spurs in 2021, Ubogagu was recommended skin inflammation drug by an individual specialist containing the restricted substance spironolactone, which is recorded on the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List as a diuretic or veiling specialist, the club said in a proclamation.
"In November 2021, Chioma mentioned a recurrent medicine from the club specialist who cautioned the important bodies; the FA and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) about the utilization of a restricted substance," the club said.
"The FA acknowledges that Chioma didn't take the prescription, spironolactone, so as to deliberately getting an unlawful benefit."
The 29-year-old has been temporarily suspended since January, and last played for the club in a 1-1 association draw with West Ham United on January 17.
Her suspension, which was distributed by the FA and an autonomous court on April 22, will run until October.
"I need to clarify that the medicine had no presentation upgrading impacts for me," Ubogagu said in a proclamation.
"Yet, I actually committed the error of not being essentially as persevering as could really be expected, and therefore I can't play the game I love until I serve my suspension.
"While my dermatologist knows about my calling, it is additionally my obligation to find out about the drugs I am recommended."
Spikes completed fifth in the WSL's 2021-22 season, which closed recently.
