Just rumors as usual or is it going to happen at Manchester united this summer?
Well, according to transfer analyst Dean Jones, Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly is by far better than Harry Maguire, but the Red Devils may face heavy competition for his signing this during the transfer window.
United are planning a summer transfer for the 57-cap Senegalese international, who is about to enter the final year of his contract in Italy, according to Spanish sources.
After his exploits in Serie A, Koulibaly has been a long-term target for several Premier League clubs in recent years. He was described as "extraordinary" by Salernitana manager Stefano Colantuono ahead of their game against Napoli in October.
Newcastle were connected with him ahead of January, while Chelsea are also thought to be intrigued, considering the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen.
However, according to the source, United are hoping to sign Koulibaly to replace Maguire, whose place in the team has been jeopardized in recent months.
Maguire is still the club captain, although Ralf Rangnick has benched him on several occasions since the turn of the year.
While Jones believes Koulibaly would be an improvement over England's defence, he also believes he is far from flawless.
Jones had something to say about Koulibaly.
"Koulibaly is certainly a better defender than Maguire, but it's not like he's without flaws; he makes mistakes, too," he told GIVEMESPORT.
"He is currently performing at a higher level, but the difficulty will be if they do go for him; after a period of no interest, he now has four or five major European clubs interested in him."
This season, how many goals has Manchester United conceded?
The Red Devils were anticipated to fight for the title after the summer signings of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, as the season went, their chances of even challenging for a top four spot began to fade, and they now find themselves on the verge of missing out on Europa League qualification.
United hasn't been clinical enough on either end of the field, but their defensive record has been one of their biggest issues.
Following the 4-0 defeat at Brighton earlier this month, they have now conceded 56 goals in 37 Premier League games, the highest in a season since 1978-1979, when they conceded 63 goals, underscoring Erik ten Hag's task.
