Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has announced that he will leave the club when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires.

Antonio Rudiger has stated that he will leave Chelsea at the end of the season when his contract expires. The fact that the German will quit the club in the summer has become common knowledge, with Thomas Tuchel recently confirming his intentions.

Rudiger has issued a letter to the Players' Tribune, in which he discusses his experience at Chelsea and the many individuals he has come to love over that time. "I don't like saying goodbye, but I'll do my best to make this one exceptional," Rudiger added.

"Before I tell you a story, I have to tell you a story. This represents my African side. We need to be patient.

"I'd like to discuss the Champions League final. But, in order for you to understand, I need to tell you a little story about one of football's nicest players. Of course, I'm referring to N'Golo Kanté.

I had heard all the lovely stuff about him before I came to Chelsea. He is known to always be smiling. According to them, he still drives an ancient Mini Cooper. He never raises his voice, according to them. But you know how football works, right? No one is like that in reality. There is far too much stress and disappointment. We are all people. Nobody can be so cool all of the time. It isn't possible. After that, I met N'Golo.

"Everything I said to this person drew a blank stare and a nod, as if he thought everything I said was fascinating." And he'd go ahead and do it... On paper, I'm not sure how to convey it. You must listen to it.

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City on Thursday evening, with Rudiger playing the entire game. During his time with the Blues, the Germany international had a lot of ups and downs. After being left out in the cold by Frank Lampard, Tuchel transformed him into one of the top defenders in the Premier League.

Rudiger is well aware that his life has been an adventure. In his statement, he continued, "I leave this club with a sorrowful heart."

"It's meant the world to me. Even with all of the obstacles, this season has been wonderful. Football, football, football. We are fortunate to get paid to play a game that we would play for fun."
