The Man. United failed to make it for UCL this season following a miserable campaign in which they will at most finish in sixth position on the premier league table, which would mean the Red Devils are qualify for Europa League.

Nunez is one of the most sought-after young strikers in world football at present, on the back of a stunning season in which he has scored 34 goals in 41 appearances.

In a blow to incoming United manager Erik ten Hag, RMC Sport have reported that Nunez has rejected Manchester United's £68million approach due to their failure to finish in the top-four.

By the same reasoning, the Uruguayan has also snubbed a move to Newcastle who have big plans this summer following their Saudi-led takeover.

This could also mean bad news for Gunners who have also been linked with a move the 22-year-old.

After their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday, Mikel Arteta's side will realistically need Tottenham to lose to bottom-of-the-table Norwich on the final day of the season to have any chance of a top-four finish.

The Red Devils are expected to spend big money this summer on a side that needs revitalising after what will be their worst Premier League season ever in terms of points on the table.

United have been strongly linked with

Nunez in recent months with Ten Hag believed to be a big fan of the Benfica star.

The youngster has impressed in the Champions League this season, scoring goals in both quarter-final legs against Liverpool, a brace against Barcelona and also finding the back of the net against Barcelona and Ajax.

His desire to play in the Champions League could be good news for Paris Saint-Germain who are one of the most strongly linked clubs with the striker.

Ten Hag will officially take over on Monday after United's final game of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday, which will mark their last match under the guidance of interim coach Ralf Rangnick.

The Red Devils will be playing the last premier league game this weekend Sunday against Crystal palace on 22/04/2022 for this season. This match will determine whether the Red Devils is going to play Europa league or Europa conference league.
