Mikel Arteta Secretive on Gabriel Jesus and Arsenal rumors
As the season appears to be coming to an end, most Arsenal fans have begun to console themselves by focusing on the more exciting prospect of summer transfers. After losing 2-0 to Newcastle on Monday, Arsenal now require an unlikely miracle on the final day of the season to secure Champions League football for 2022/23.
To finish in the top four, they must defeat Frank Lampard's Everton and hope that Tottenham loses to relegated Norwich. Mikel Arteta tried to put on a brave face by saying, "We know that in football, anything is possible," but it appears highly likely that his team will be playing Europa League football next season.
On Thursday, Arsenal released their brand new home kit for the upcoming 2022/23 season, giving us a glimpse of what that will look like. And it appears that the new strip may have also hinted at the summer transfer business that they are planning.
Adidas' latest effort is another 90s throwback, this time with a white collar and a red lightning stripe. After months of speculation, the new strip was finally released to the public, accompanied by a video starring Bukayo Saka, Leah Williamson, Granit Xhaka, Vivianne Miedema, Emile Smith Rowe, Stina Blackstenius, and Gabriel Martinelli.
With the kit launch came big news for the latter, as it was revealed that he will be wearing a new number next season. The Brazilian has decided to switch from the No. 35 shirt he has worn since his arrival in 2019, to the No. 11 shirt.
The news means that the number of first-team shirts available in the Arsenal squad has been reduced yet again, with only the Nos. 2 and 8 shirts available for potential new signings. This, however, may be about to change.
