Promote trade transformation via discussion and synergy – GEPA

To achieve commercial transformation, countries in the West African region have been urged to increase discussion and synergies among themselves.

According to Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), this would help increase access to regional and international markets and improve linkages among value chain participants.

She urged nations in the area to play a key role in the African Continental Free Trade Area, speaking at the second Annual General Meeting of the Economic Community of West African States' (ECOWAS) Trade Promotion Organisation Network.

Dr. Asabea Asare further asked member nations to work together to attain this goal and enhance commerce in the subregion.

"We believe that the existing blocs will suffice." "We believe that with existing blocs like as ECOWAS, making a tiny effort to make commerce easier in our small area will be extremely easy for us." To take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area, we need to work together and increase our economic activity," she stated.

Dr. Ezra Yakusak, President of the Trade Promotion Organization Network, said the organization will launch sensitization programs for trades and other exporters in the region in order to help the region take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

"We want to do this through a public awareness campaign and other lobbying and capacity-building programs for both exporters and other associations." The AfCFTA is in place.

The AfCFTA was established for Africans, and we must take it seriously," he remarked.

Through trade operations, the Trade Promotion Organizations Network aims to develop the regional value chain and transform economies in West Africa.

The ECOWAS Trade Promotion Organisation (TPO) Network is a public-private partnership that will work with the ECOWAS Commission to promote equitable trade development initiatives in West Africa and beyond.
