John Nkaw has been named Country Director of ActionAid Ghana.
John Nkaw has been named Country Director of ActionAid Ghana, starting May 1, 2022.
John Nkaw was Head of Programmes, Campaigns, and Innovation and Interim Country Director until his recent appointment as Country Director.
Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, who resigned in August 2021, is his successor. John Nkaw will lead ActionAid Ghana's work by organizing and building partnerships to ensure that program interventions have a larger positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of those living in poverty.
He became the Head of Programmes at ActionAid Ghana in March 2019 and served as Interim Country Director from September 2021 to April 2022.
As Interim Country Director, Mr. Nkaw was in charge of monitoring the organization's entire management from both an operational and strategic standpoint.
He oversaw the development, execution, review/monitoring, and assessment of the program.
Mr. Nkaw ensured that program interventions are tailored to the poor's goals in order to have the most impact on their lives and livelihoods. Mr. Nkaw was chosen after a lengthy and very competitive procedure.
"We expect him to deliver, and we have no doubt that he will, with the help of his team, partners, and all other stakeholders," the civil society organization said in a statement.
John has worked with Oxfam Ghana, SEND Foundation of West Africa (now SEND Ghana), USAID Partnership for Education: Evaluating Systems, and the Ghana Aid Effectiveness Commission.
Mr. Nkaw has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Political Science from the University of Ghana, as well as a Master of Arts in Development Studies and a Master of Public Administration in Public Policy from the University of Texas at Austin.
