Relaxing within the office was almost taboo until employers started changing work environment and company policies to be more progressive and inclusive. To match the change in thinking, architectural and interior trends matched forces, and dynamic offices came into existence. The era of collaborative workplaces or work playgrounds is here and is probably here to stay!
The Turkish head office of international pharmaceutical group Recordati is spread across two storeys at the Maslak Building Office in Istanbul. Architects Yudum Boytorun and Semih Boytorun position service units such as the core, toilets, etc. in the heart of the general setting so as to maximise the frontage for office areas. The use of transparent partitions in manager rooms and meeting rooms as well as the inclusion of exposed working spaces in the office setting make the Recordati office more spacious than it really is. Natural light is graciously invited in, thanks to the glass shopfront and is employed to maximum efficiency via light-coloured wall paints that reinforce the transparency making the interiors more vivid.
Free-flowing exchange of ideas can be generated while casually colliding into your co-workers or while lounging on plush couches. The emotion of organic exchange is conveyed through furniture upholstered in felt that naturally extends onto the wall, breaking the monotony of grey cabinets. Instead of confining them to a single workstation, dynamic social areas that boost interaction for around 100 employees are setup by distributing resting areas throughout the floor plate.
Every surface of the 1,500-sq. m. is treated in a unique way, seamlessly flowing from the ceiling to the floor. While certain rigidity is achieved with the introduction of different materials in neutral shades, the corporate red tone at different locations such as the reception lounge at the entrance, the couches between the cabinets and the foils on the joineries, hints at the playfulness of the space.check out the visuals of this office on indiaartndesign.com
