Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora has won the Moldovan FA Cup with his side FC Sheriff Tiraspol after a closely fought final on Saturday night.

The Ghana international kept the post for 90 minutes and, also kept a clean sheet as his side triumphed 1-0 on the day against FC Sfintul Gheorghe.

The 2021/22 Moldovan Cup final was played at the 4,500 capacity Stadionul Orasenesc, Ribnita and, it was a tense game throughout the contest.

The first half ended goalless and with the game heading to extra-time and possible penalties, FC Sheriff Tiraspol's Albanian midfielder Reji Lushkja popped up to score a 90+5 minutes winner for the record Moldovan champions to hand them the win.

FC Sheriff Tiraspol has now won the League and Cup double in Moldova after winning the Divizia Nationala with matches to spur a couple of weeks ago.

Razak Abalora was rated at 8.7 after coming up with some important saves for his club in the final when the scorers were still goalless in this encounter.

The Ghanaian shot-stopper has now won two trophies since joining the Moldovan giants from Asante Kotoko in January and, he will look for more next season.

Abalora will also look to be included in the Ghana squad ahead of the qualifiers for the AFCON tournament in 2023 which starts next month as well as the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November and December.

Another Ghanaian Patrick Kpozo also played the full throttle for FC Sheriff Tiraspol in this encounter whilst Edmund Addo sat out this game as they won the trophy.
