President Akufo-Addo is summoned by the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

Akufo-administration Addo's is eager to expand the aviation sector.

Sunyani Airport was converted from an airstrip to an airport in 1969.

The first phase of the Sunyani Airport is said to have been completed by the government.

This is according to Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyeman Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, who expressed gratitude to the government for the timely completion of the phased project.

"Nananom are rightly informed that Phase 1 is now fully complete and will be fully functional after it is officially commissioned," Osagyefo Agyeman Badu II said during a courtesy call on the President [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo] at the Jubilee House last week.

"Mr. President, we thank you for the Sunyani Airport reconstruction work." We can all recall the deplorable state of our airport at some point in the past. It significantly diminished the luster of our region. That's why we've come to thank you," he added.

Meanwhile, last year [2021], Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated that flight operations were expected to resume in October 2021, but the project was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained to parliament that the first phase of Sunyani Airport rehabilitation work includes the taxi link, the apron, the runway, and the renovation of the terminal structure.

The Sunyani Airport has not undergone any major renovations since it first opened for commercial operations. The airport began as an airstrip and was later upgraded to an airport in 1969.

It has a total runway length of 1,520 meters, with 1,400 meters of paved runway and 60 meters of unpaved Runway End Safety Area (RESA) at both ends.
