Manchester City have already agreed to pay £51 million to bring Erling Haaland to the Etihad this summer, adding to Pep Guardiola's wealth at the club.

Erling Haaland has been cautioned by Rio Ferdinand to leave his ego at the door and prepare for a time of bedding-in at Manchester City.

On Sunday, City won the Premier League for the fourth time in five seasons, but their reign of terror shows no signs of coming to an end, with Haaland's impending arrival making them an even more formidable force.

Pep Guardiola won the league without a recognized striker last season, but he will suddenly have access to one of the world's most dangerous attackers. The midfielder has appeared in 89 games for Borussia Dortmund. However, Ferdinand believes it's normal to expect a time of adjustment to Guardiola's techniques, citing the example of Jack Grealish's first season. Grealish joined City for £100 million last summer, but has yet to recreate his form at Aston Villa.

That might be the case for Haaland, according to Ferdinand, who believes the Norwegian will have to demonstrate the same amount of humility as his new teammate. Ferdinand revealed a conversation he had with Grealish on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, in which he revealed how difficult it can be to perform under Guardiola.

"He told me there's a lot more to consider when joining a Pep Guardiola-prepared team. That's why we'll see the Jack we know and love next season. There could be a period of adjustment during which we don't see the Haaland we expect to see right away."

"What Pep has had with City when big players have come in, they get a bedding-in phase," the United legend continued. It's a recognition that this is difficult; you don't always hit the ground running.

"The humility of the athletes who struggle is a significant part of it." They don't whine and complain. If things don't go as planned, Haaland will have to step in. Ignore your ego... the bigger picture isn't affecting the squad's morale.Guardiola, for one, is unconcerned with Haaland's acclimatization phase, insisting that he is not a short-term signing who will assist the club for years to come.

Erling Haaland scored an incredible 86 goals in 89 matches for Borussia Dortmund, but he may struggle at City.

"I'm pretty sure about Haaland," he explained. But before I can offer you an honest opinion, I need to work with him. It's because he's good that he scores so many goals. But most importantly, he will be coming in a new nation, with a new home and new friends. He has to acclimate to all of these things. That is why, before starting here, he should enjoy his vacation, prepare thoroughly, and arrive without injury to work and play with us.

"It's fine if it takes weeks. It's fine if it takes months. He hasn't been here in two or three months, and I hope he has been here for many years. So, if he requires extra time, we provide it. We'll attempt to help him, and I'm confident he'll try to help us as well, so I have no qualms."
