The 8th Parliament's second session begins today, May 24.

This was stated in a press release signed by Cyril Oteng Nsiah, Clerk to Parliament.

The meeting will last until early August, when Parliament will go on another recess. Traditionally, the second meeting is when government programs and bills are discussed.

Exemptions Bill 2022 (Ministry of Finance), Ghana Hydrological Authority Bill 2022, Ghana Standards Authority Bill 2022, Affirmative Bill, and Rent Bill are among the bills to be considered.

Instruments, Papers, Motions, and referrals to committees will be presented to the House for debate and approval during the meetings.

The Minister of Finance is also expected to deliver the mid-year budget review in July.

According to a statement issued by Parliament's Public Affairs Directorate on Monday, May 23, "the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament has already admitted questions and petitions to be brought before the House."

Sir John's Last Will and Testament sparks social media outrage

The government has declassified parts of the Achimota Forest Reserve.

Last Will and Testament of Sir John is released by an Accra-based band.

A media outlet has published the Last Will and Testament of former New Patriotic Party, NPP, General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, alias Sir John, two years after his death.

The release coincides with an ongoing controversy in which the government is accused of taking actions that could jeopardize the capital's only forest reserve, the Achimota Forest Reserve.

Since May 22, 2022, the contents of Sir John's Will have dominated the news, with outrage expressed particularly on social media regarding the landed and other properties bequeathed to relatives.

A total of 75 properties were listed in a compilation of the properties in Sir John's Will published by The Fourth Estate, an Accra-based news portal that first published the now-viral document.

The assets ranged from houses to lands, other businesses, investments, bank accounts, firearms, and private vehicles.
