The sharpness of Liverpool has been questioned ahead of the Champions League final.
Jamie O'Hara thinks Liverpool are "weary" ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Real will be more sharper due to their relaxed finale to the La Liga season, according to the former Tottenham midfielder.
This season, Liverpool has fought to the bitter finish on all four fronts. Manchester City came agonizingly close to winning their second Premier League title in three seasons on Sunday, but Aston Villa pulled off a spectacular comeback.
Jurgen Klopp's players are "dropping like flies," according to O'Hara, who was at Anfield for Liverpool's 2-1 win over Wolves. Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are doubtful for Saturday's showpiece encounter in Paris, while Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah did not start the season's last two league games.
O'Hara, a TalkSPORT analyst, is concerned about Liverpool's state coming into the game. "Again, Liverpool huffed and puffed and got the result in the end because Wolves just gave up," he remarked.
Van Dijk was not introduced, Thiago was forced to leave, and Milner and Henderson were forced to play in midfield. When you look at it, Real Madrid is as fresh as a daisy going into that game.
"They've already won the championship, so they're fully prepared for this week." Liverpool is starting to get out of the physio bed."
When Klopp spoke about Thiago over the weekend, he did not give an encouraging update. "It's not good," he continued, "but I can't say more.
"He was outdoors with the family, walking with his small child on his shoulders, which is definitely a good indication." Everything else will be revealed tomorrow.
It's the [body's] lower half. I'm aware of it, but I don't want to discuss it right now. We'll see what happens.
"Give us the [scan]; it doesn't make the news any better or worse." We'd like to wait until we get more information before telling you about it."
Due to a muscle injury, Divock Origi has played his final game for Liverpool. "Div is certainly out for the final because he [was] injured in the last second of the last session," Klopp stated of the Belgian.
He has a muscle injury, so five days will not suffice." Apart from that, I believe everyone has a chance – including Thiago, hopefully – and then we will prepare."
