Despite Aurelien Tchouameni supposedly agreeing to join Real Madrid this summer, Liverpool are set to step up their efforts to sign him following the Champions League final. The Reds will now go head-to-head with their opponents on and off the field in the hopes of securing the services of one of the world's most talented midfielders.

But first and foremost, they must take care of business at the Stade de France if they are to win their seventh European Cup in Paris.

Victory might also give them an advantage in the fight to sign Tchouameni, who is expected to depart Monaco this summer if the price is right.

After Kylian Mbappe snubbed Los Blancos in favor of a new Paris Saint-Germain deal, it was reported earlier this week that Real Madrid had reached a verbal agreement on a move.

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Liverpool will increase their efforts to sign Tchouameni following the final this weekend.

Liverpool Tchouameni, Aurelien

After the Champions League final, Liverpool wish to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.

It means they have the opportunity to deliver a double blow to Real Madrid, who remain confident in their ability to sign the 24-year-old France international with the monies put aside for Mbappe.

It's also been stated that Real Madrid hasn't officially consented to the deal yet, leaving the possibility of a hijacking open.

PSG is also rumored to be interested, with midfielder Paul Pogba getting closer to a return to Juventus after his Manchester United contract expires.

Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell, who previously worked for Tottenham and Southampton, reportedly stated that he expects a large sum for Tchouameni.

Mitchell told the French outlet RMC Sport, "I don't have a preference to be honest about who he joins.

Of course, a significant sum is required. If they want us to sell a top player like Tchouameni, their offers must be very aggressive.

As he waits for the club and his agents to determine his future, it appears the 22-year-old box-to-box technician isn't ruling out the possibility of sticking with Monaco for another season.

It's true that a lot of people are hoping to see me stay," he stated before the final game of the Ligue 1 season. That makes me happy because it means I'm doing something right.

"As I've previously stated, there will be one more match in Monegasque colors versus Lens. We'll see what happens after that.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new central midfielder this summer, having failed to replace the dependable Gini Wijnaldum, who joined PSG.

Jurgen Klopp held conversations with World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe about a blockbuster move to Anfield this week, but the French attacker was thought to be out of Liverpool's reach.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a fringe player, might possibly leave this summer, highlighting Liverpool's need for midfield reinforcements once more.
