Gabriel Jesus has been told that he still has a role to play at Manchester City despite Erling Haaland's imminent arrival.

City announced earlier this month that they had come to an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of the Norwegian striker. This deal, however, is subject to the Blues and Haaland agreeing personal terms, although that is not expected to be an obstacle to the deal being completed.

Jesus meanwhile, who is City's only senior recognised centre forward, has been linked with a move to Arsenal. Reports last month suggested that the Brazilian's representatives had met with the Gunners over a potential transfer.

According to David James, Jesus should not be looking at a departure from the Etihad. Speaking to Genting Casino, James said: "If you look at Man City players’ appearances this season, Bernardo Silva and Rodri have played 30-plus Premier League games, but all the players in that attacking line-up have played around 25 games, so they’re not playing every week.

"Pep’s rotation has worked perfectly in the sense that they won the Premier League again. I’d imagine Haaland would fit into that mould, he’s not going to play every game.

"Also, with his injuries, there are question marks over whether he is physically capable of playing all the games. That being said, Jesus will have a shared role if he stays at Manchester City.
