MANCHESTER CITY want Frenkie de Jong, but Barcelona want a star to go the other way, while free agent Divock Origi is being courted in both Spain and Italy.
Barcelona is looking for a Manchester City player in return for Frenkie de Jong and an Aston Villa starlet, while a Liverpool fan must choose between Italy and Spain.
According to reports in the German press, Robert Lewandowski's desire to join Bayern Munich this summer is linked to a move to the Premier League in the summer. And the outcome of Thursday night's Ligue 1 relegation playoff might save Crystal Palace's owners €20 million.
Here's a look at what's been in the European press this summer.
Barcelona is becoming increasingly crowded.
Due to the Catalan club's massive debts, they must be astute in the transfer market.
According to RMC Sport, Pep Guardiola's City wants their Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer, while Barcelona wants Bernardo Silva as part of the deal. Barcelona are also expected to recruit Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on a free transfer after the Ivory Coast international told Canal+ Sport Africa that he would not be renewing his contract with the new Serie A champions.
"My contract has one month left on it, but an extension is not conceivable," he explained. "I came here for a five-year project, and we've gotten back into the swing of things."
Carney Chukwuemeka is also a target for Xavi's club.
This season, the England youth international has made 16 first-team appearances for Villa, including two Premier League starts. Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the 18-year-old midfielder, according to Spanish radio station SER, and Barcelona staff Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff have previously visited with his agent.
Carney Chukwuemeka, who is apparently being pursued by Arsenal and Barcelona, may find it difficult to stay at Aston Villa.
Barcelona is keeping an eye on Carney Chukwuemeka.
However, Barcelona has acknowledged that Ousmane Dembele will not sign a new deal with the club and will instead join PSG on a free transfer.
Divock Origi is on the run.
After the Champions League final, the Liverpool striker's contract expires, and his representatives have been in talks.
However, according to the Italian sports daily, Origi would rather play in the Champions League than earn more money in La Liga. Milan are also attempting to sign Sassuolo's Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca or former West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic, who is now at Bologna, while Zlatan Ibrahmimovic will be offered a new contract, despite the fact that he will not return until next year following knee surgery.
Lewandowski wants to quit Bayern Munich because of Erling Haaland.
The former Borussia Dortmund player has agreed to join Manchester City, but not before the German champions tried to sign him. And, according to Bild, the Pole's "obsession" with Haaland enraged him so much that he chose to leave the club, despite the fact that he was still a member.
"It's best to resign when your employer starts thinking about replacing you," Lewandowski told close friends, according to the German daily. "I spoke with Bayern in October and got no comment on the topic, only silence," his agent Pini Zahavi told Bild. We may talk about leaving if I brought in a plan worth 120 million euros, I was told at the end of the meeting. This is the exact cost of hiring Haaland, including all commissions.
Americans David Blitzer and Josh Harris, who own Palace and are looking to invest in St Etienne, were part of a failed recent consortium that tried to buy Chelsea. According to L'Equipe, the two are willing to spend €100 million in Les Verts if they win their relegation playoff.
