Champions League final:Michael Owen predicts the winner between Liverpool and Real Madrid
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid forward Michael Owen believes the Reds will win the Champions League final.
The Reds face the Spanish giants in Paris on Saturday evening, hoping to complete a cup treble under Jurgen Klopp this season, despite failing to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.
In other news, Real Madrid will be eager to add a 14th European title to their illustrious history. Owen, on the other hand, is backing his first professional club Liverpool to win at Parc des Princes and has warned Real not to get too confident.
"I think Liverpool are better than Madrid and they could blow them away," the ex-striker told the Daily Mail. My prediction is 3-1 or 3-0. I believe they can beat them fairly convincingly because they are an exceptional team right now and are too good for Madrid.
"Madrid have just done phenomenally well to get to the final," he continued. I'm sure they believe their name is on the title after surviving the group stage and, of course, Chelsea's incredible performance. Manchester City's victory over them was also mind-boggling. But I believe Liverpool are so experienced and talented. They won't want to get into a fight with them because I think Madrid are the ultimate team when it comes to know-how and winning close games."
Real Madrid, Liverpool's Champions League final opponents, have announced their squad ahead of Saturday's match in Paris, and it includes a familiar foe.
Despite appearing only seven times for Los Blancos this season, Welsh winger Gareth Bale has been named to the La Liga giants' 26-man squad.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star has previous with the Reds, having scored twice in the 2018 final in Kiev, including an incredible bicycle kick, to help Real Madrid win the Champions League and a record 13th European Cup.
