NPP’s regional elections: What to expect.
Today, May 27, 2022, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its regional delegates conference.
This is to elect new regional executives following constituency elections held in April of this year.
Some regions, such as Ashanti, Eastern, Bono, Central, and Greater Accra, have already been identified as regions to watch as new entrants seek to unseat incumbents.
In the Ashanti and Central Regions, for example, some members of the party sought injunctions to move the venue of the elections and to continue holding elections in the Ekumfi Constituency until further notice.
Elections are held on specific days in different parts of the country.
Dates for the various regions:
Eight regions – Ahafo, Bono East, Central, Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East, and Western North – will hold elections today, Friday, May 27, 2022, according to the party schedule.
On Saturday, May 28, 2022, the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, Upper West, Volta, Oti, and Western Regions will hold elections.
On Sunday, May 28, 2022, regional elections will be held in Bono.
On the 28th of May 2022, regional elections will be held in Ho.
Where will regional elections be held in each region? Regional elections will be held at the Oasis Hotel – Goaso in Ahafo. It is taking place at the Pastoral Center in Sunyani in the Bono Region.
The polls will be held at the Kintampo School of Health in Bono East, and at the Tamale Stadium in the Northern Region.
The delegates conference will be held at Nalerigu Senior High School in the North East. Polls will be held in Savannah at the Damongo MP's office, in the Upper East Region at the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga and the Pastoral Center, and in the Western North at Sefwi Wiawso.
The polls will take place at the Cultural Center in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, and at the Trade Fair Center in La in the Greater Accra Region.
The Upper West conference will be held at Wa Secondary Technical Institute, while the Oti conference will be held at Yabram Senior High School – Dambai.
The Western Region's elections will be held at the Nzema Manle Complex in Ampane, Ellembelle, while the Ashanti Region's elections will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Meanwhile, two candidates running for the positions of 2nd Vice Chair and Treasurer in the Eastern Regional Executive Election have stepped down, according to citinewsroom.
Despite having passed vetting, the two, Nana Oteng Akuffo Akoto and Opoku Peter Dacosta, are said to have stepped down.
Frank Appiah, Paul Amaning, and Micheal Oteng Adu are the leading candidates for the 2nd Vice Chairmanship, with Bernard Kumi Larbi running unopposed for regional treasurer.
