Farmers in Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality have been educated on the products of the Messiah Organics Chain in a workshop so that they can produce more for home use and export.
The workshop was attended by 50 participants and officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Department of Agriculture and was organized by Nana Dwomoh Doyan, Chief Executive Officer of the Messiah Organics Chain of Ghana.
Farmers are taken to account for soil conservation, the use of Messiah Organic fertilizer and pesticides, the use of pesticides to improve agricultural production, and the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers.
Mr. John Kupagme, with a Ph.D. Students of Mycology at the University of Tartu Estonia and Head of Research at the Messiah Organics Chain taught participants how to build relationships between plant root structures and specific fungi to help absorb nutrients.
This, he said, could put an end to the use of chemical fertilizers.
Mr. Kupagme said the Messiah Organic Chain fertilizer is a living fertilizer called ‘Agrodyke’ and is suitable for all crops.
He said excessive use of chemical fertilizers could contribute to crop tip browning, leaf blight, wilting, and crop rotation, adding; “If the fertilizer burns the roots, the root may be dark and shriveled. All of these symptoms are due to the accumulation of salt in the soil, which can be detrimental to the water absorption of plants. ”
Mr. Kupagme said young people should be encouraged to enter the post-graduate farming business so that they can earn a living.
He urged stakeholders, especially NADMO and agricultural workers to share what they learned at the workshop with farmers' communities to manage the Messiah Organics Chain products to grow their production.
Mr. Wisdom King Adukpo, Chairman of Tiwala Market Company has assured farmers that the company is ready to buy quality products for them to be exported so that the country can earn foreign exchange for development.
