Sergio Aguero discusses why Real Madrid has the "advantage" over Liverpool.
Sergio Aguero, a Manchester City legend, believes the weight of history may have an impact on who wins the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid in Paris.
Sergio Aguero believes Real Madrid's Champions League experience will give them an advantage over Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have a long history in Europe, with the two clubs sharing 19 European Cups. However, 13 of those belong to Carlo Ancelotti's side, who are attempting to win their fourth Champions League title in seven years against Liverpool.
The Spanish giants have the added advantage of defeating the Premier League giants in the final four years ago. And Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero believes that the weight of history, combined with Real Madrid's incredible never-say-die mentality, should be enough for the La Liga champions to win their 14th European Cup in Paris.
"I think Real Madrid have more experience as a club overall, but Liverpool have performed well in the Champions League in recent years," Stake.com global ambassador Aguero said.
"It will be close, but I believe Madrid will be more confident, having played in previous finals and turning around difficult games." That is the advantage I can point to.
"History and experience do tip the scales. Madrid demonstrated this by winning both of their home legs, with the Bernabeu playing an important role. However, since the final is on neutral ground, it may be more balanced."
Real Madrid has won the last seven European Cup or Champions League finals dating back to 1988. Aguero believes it will be enough when the whistle blows at the Stade de France on Saturday night.
"Real has had many great teams, and this one is no exception. Aside from the individual performances of each time, the club itself carries its own weight "He continued.
"The weight of history becomes more present when players understand that, regardless of which team they're playing for."
