Liverpool find themselves facing a third Champions League final since 2018 in Paris on May 28 as Jurgen Klopp's side take on Real Madrid.

The Reds ended the domestic season with an domestic cup double, of the EFL and FA Cups, but they were edged out by Manchester City in the Premier League title race. However, the prospect of a seventh European Cup/Champions League in the French capital, means Klopp's charges will not be clicking into post-season mode.

The meeting in Paris will be the third European final meeting between the two sides, with Liverpool winning the 1981 European Cup and Los Blancos defeating Klopp in Kiev in 2018.

Goalkeeper: Alisson

Brazilian stopper Alisson remains first choice for Klopp with the former AS Roma star ending the 2021/22 Premier League as the joint Golden Glove winner, level with Manchester City's Ederson, on 20 clean sheets. The 29-year-old has started 36 of 38 league games this season plus 12 from 12 in the Champions League.

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson have started 83% of Liverpool's Premier League games together in 2021/22 and 67% of their Champions League outings.

All three will start again in Paris with the main call for Klopp coming between Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip as Van Dijk's central defensive partner.

However, Konate has started the majority of Liverpool's European knockout games in 2022, and his recovery pace in behind could be vital up against Vinicius Jr.

Midfielders: Naby Keita, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson

Injury concerns are set to play a major role in Klopp's midfield selection as he aims to get the better of Real Madrid's experienced trio of Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric.

Brazilian anchor man Fabinho missed Liverpool's final three games of the season but Klopp is confident he will be fit in time to start alongside the in form Naby Keita. However, Spanish star Thiago Alcantara looks certain to miss out after injuring his thigh in the final day win over Wolves, with Klopp forced into a reshuffle to reduce the impact of his absence.

Skipper Jordan Henderson is the obvious candidate to replace the former Barcelona star but his guile in midfield will be a major loss in Paris.

Forwards: Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz

Salah and Mane have started 82% of Liverpool's Premier League games in 2021/22 and 88% of their Champions League games with Klopp's attack.

A combined tally of 54 club goals this season makes them a fearsome prospect for any defensive in European football.Similarly to the Matip v Konate debate in defence, Klopp is likely to be weighing up Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz to start at the Stade de France.

Diaz's form in Liverpool's key Champions League games is likely to give him an edge over Portuguese star Jota with his performances against Benfica and Villarreal still fresh in the memory.
