Chelsea said on Saturday that a last understanding had been struck to sell the Premier League club to a consortium drove by Los Angeles Dodgers part-proprietor Todd Boehly and upheld by Clearlake Capital.
The takeover is supposed to be finished on Monday.
The consortium, which won the bid to secure the London side recently, got endorsement from the Premier League and the British government this week for the deal to go on.
"Chelsea Football Club can affirm that a last and conclusive understanding was placed into the previous evening to offer the Club to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital consortium," the club said in an explanation.
"It is normal that the exchange will be finished on Monday. The club will refresh further around then."
Russian proprietor Roman Abramovich put the club available to be purchased toward the beginning of March following Russia's intrusion of Ukraine, which Moscow calls a "extraordinary military activity".
