In an interview with Mirror Football ahead of the Champions League final, the Brazil and Real Madrid legend claims he'd be more confident in a Real victory if an ex-teammate was participating.
Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos wishes his former club to call upon one of his most accomplished teammates in the Champions League final against Liverpool, because he believes he could scare Virgil van Dijk.
Carlos was a member of the Real Madrid teams who won the Champions League in 1998, 2000, and 2002, the first of which ended a 32-year wait for European football's most coveted title.
Real's record now stands at 13 Champions League victories, with a 14th in sight in Paris on Saturday night, after four additional wins in five seasons between 2014 and 2018, the last of which came against Liverpool in Kyiv.
Carlos is confident that Real will add to their count against the Reds, but if he had the power to resurrect one of his decorated former 'Galactico' teammates, he knows who he'd choose.
When asked the question by Mirror Football, the Brazilian legend immediately replied, "Raul."
So no Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Luis Figo, or fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo? No.
Carlos continued, "Raul knows how to play against English teams."
"He would fight and go head-to-head with the defenders, so him against Virgil van Dijk, for example, would be a really good fight. I'd like to see that!"
Van Dijk perhaps wouldn't.
Given a choice of Real Madrid legends he'd like to see face Liverpool on Saturday, Roberto Carlos picked Raul
Raul is one of Real Madrid's most famous sons, and at the time of his retirement from European football in 2012, no player had scored more goals in the Champions League, a competition he won three times alongside Carlos, scoring goals in the 2000 final against Paris and the 2002 final against Bayer Leverkusen at Hampden Park.
Real's current marksman Karim Benzema is one of four players who has since surpassed the Spaniard in the annals of Champions League goals, and it'll be the Frenchman giving Van Dijk a difficult game in Paris, where Carlos is hoping Carlo Ancelotti can outwit Jurgen Klopp.

"They're both fantastic managers," he continued, "and it'll be intriguing to watch who stamps their style on the game."
"Each of them has their own philosophy, so let's see who can emerge victorious.
"It will be a difficult game, but I feel Real Madrid will win since they have more experience in finals."
"I also appreciate the idea that they came up through some of the best teams in the world to get there, like as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City, so they'll have even more confidence."
