Ronaldo, 37, has one year left on his United deal and was the club's best scorer last season.
The Red Devils have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, and it is unclear whether Ronaldo would seek a move away from the Europa League.

Barnes, a former Liverpool winger, believes that the Portuguese star will not be pursued by Europe's top clubs and should thus stay in Manchester.
'Cristiano Ronaldo needs to do whatever he believes is appropriate for him this summer, whether it's staying at Manchester United or going,' he told BonusCodeBets. It'll also depend on what United wants to do with him; would they even want to keep him?
'He won't join a team that is better than Manchester United, even if it is in the Champions League.'

'He may like to travel to America, but it is entirely up to him. Over the years, he's been one of the best players to ever play. It's just a matter of whether he believes he has enough to contribute.
'He's not going to Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Manchester City,' says the source.
Pep Guardiola reportedly wanted to sign Ronaldo for Manchester City before he returned to Old Trafford last summer.
He has scored goals since his return to the Premier League, although he has been chastised for his lack of pressing.
As a result, Manchester United has been linked with a summer transfer for Benfica's Darwin Nunez.
However, with Ronaldo expected to be United's permanent starter, securing such deals could be challenging.
When asked if Ronaldo was in his plans for next season, new manager Erik ten Hag answered, "Of course."
