On Saturday, Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League trophy for the years 2021-2022.

Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win their 14th European Cup at the Stade de France in Paris, with Vinicius Jr scoring in the second half. The Spanish giants have won the Champions League for the sixth time in nine seasons.

Earlier in the game, the game was deadlocked at 0-0 at halftime, with Liverpool hitting the post and dominating possession for the first 45 minutes.

The kickoff was delayed for 36 minutes as police attempted to keep crowds from forcing their way into the stadium. While both teams started cautiously, Sadio Mane came even closer in the 21st minute with a low shot that Courtois, the Madrid goalkeeper, managed to deflect onto the post.

Liverpool's high-pressing strategy continued, with Mohamed Salah again challenging the Spanish goalkeeper in pursuit of a lead.

Madrid came close to scoring before the break, but after a lengthy VAR review, Karim Benzema's shot was ruled offside. In the 43rd minute, the French striker rifled the ball home.

Thank you to all Real Madrid FC supporters for their well-deserved triumph.Carlo Ancelotti has now surpassed Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane as the only coach to win the European Cup four times, having done so in Paris last night.

Zidane was present at the Stade de France to see the feat. And it was only fitting that Vinicius scored the game-winning goal for Real Madrid. In a season full of them, the 21-year-old Brazilian is one of Ancelotti's biggest accomplishments.Zidane never trusted him, removing him from games in the second half, to the point where he lost his focus off the pitch and his faith in front of goal on it.Ancelotti has backed him nearly since the day he arrived from Everton to take over the team for the second time in his career, and when he converted Fede Valverde's penalty, he put his boss in a league of his own in terms of European Cup victories.

Ancelotti had to suffer as he had never before in the Champions League this season, which is saying a lot after such an incredible voyage to the final. In the days leading up to the game, he appeared almost too relaxed. 'The type of players I have always leads me,' he said to laughing reporters in midweek regarding his pragmatic approach to styles and systems. We don't play a high press if I have a chubby striker.'

He was also his typical humble self, stating he'd seek the advise of his players to figure out how to win the game Because they'd done it more than any other team in the last decade. But Liverpool's start to the game shattered all of that tranquillity.

After one directionless early run out from the back from Eder Militao, he could be seen placing his hands to his head. Madrid's early disarray was summed up in one phrase; they were ragged and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois kept them in the game for the first half hour.Ancelotti was soon urgently instructing his players to stretch Liverpool and play longer balls out of defense in order to shift the game away from Courtois and towards Alisson. They had not worried the Brazilian goalkeeper until 24 minutes, when he had to save Vinicius' cross shot.

Dani Carvajal, his right-back, replied by playing higher up the pitch for a while, but Ancelotti was still left disappointed. He could see Casemiro and Toni Kroos all at sea as the red tide advanced without resistance. He was a midfield veteran of two winning finals for Milan in 2003 and 2007.
